Description
Driving up to the foothills of the White Mountains, you’ll feel the environment changing while you are heading to the first destination. Inside a family vineyard, a wine specialist will introduce the local grape varieties. Analyzing the winemaking tradition, you’ll get a lot of useful information. You will continue with wine tasting of Greek labels in a traditional village house. By discovering rear ancient grape varieties and the modern type of Greek wines, we guarantee a mouthwatering experience.
The next stop will be in a traditional Cretan village, situated at an altitude of 300m. There you will experience a local family cheese factory. After the tour of the factory, you will taste the cheese varieties like ”Graviera”, “Anthotiros” or “Mizithra” and you will be in touch with the cheese-making process. There will be a combination of cheese tasting with Cretan dry-bread and “raki – tsikoudia” that you’ll love.
A few minutes from the village is the local winery. There you will meet the specialists of the awarded “Romeiko” variety. You will taste wine varieties like “Vidiano”, “Vilana”, “Malvazia” and “Kotsifali”. The winery provides a great view of the White Mountains and an impressive art gallery. There, you can see an ancient treadle, which is aged 500 years old, and walk around the herbal garden and the museum of traditional Cretan exhibits. Moving underground, feeling the heartbeat of the White Mountains, you will visit the cellar, which is inside the cave where steadfast rocks cover the cylinder bottles. Tasting is following, and with a satisfied palate, we are off to the final stop for lunch. In the charming square of a traditional Cretan village, you will experience the local cuisine. Full of incredible tastes, the tour is coming to its end, leaving us the best memories.

We keep our group sizes low so you have the freedom to move around and get involved with your surroundings, as well as more personal attention from our local guides. This intimate size ensures that your group will not crowd your experience. You can expect up to 15 travelers on a trip but the average is 8-10. Check individual trip pages for maximum group sizes.
It’s extremely difficult if not impossible to join a tour after it has begun. It is possible to leave a tour early however you will be responsible for your own arrangements from the moment you decide to leave the tour. You would also be responsible for all costs associated with joining a tour late or leaving one early. If you feel this may be necessary please consult a Fabulous Crete Specialist before you book your adventure.
The most of our company’s vehicles are Mercedes-Benz and VolksWagen 7-9 seaters.
For privacy reasons we cannot provide you with advance details on your traveling companions. As you can expect some landmarks take more time to get to on coach tours and some are more time-consuming than others. With this in mind, we have no set time for the exploration of each attraction. Our tour guides are trained to watch how their group progresses at each landmark and they adjust each tour accordingly. You should keep in mind that some tours cover three landmarks over a single day, so there are a limited number of hours in which to do a lot of sightseeing. Consequently, you may not have an extensive amount of time to spend at each attraction.
You could lose your seat to a walk-up passenger. We encourage you to arrive at the pickup point a minimum of 15 minutes before departure. Once on the tour, your guide or driver will give you a time that the coach will depart each location. You must be at the coach at least five minutes before this time. If you are late and miss the time given, the coach will depart without you in order to not keep the other passengers waiting. If you are in any doubt about a departure time whilst on your tour, you must ask the guide or driver.
Any items we find on our coaches are taken to our office at Episkopou Chrysanthou 37 str. Chania old town and are kept there for 72 hours before being destroyed or given to charity. Please call our office on +30 28210 43243 for any lost items.
5 days before the tour starts –> 50% refund, no refunds after that

I was in Chania with my family in September 2016 and I looked for things to do. I joined fabulouscrete.com and I saw the wine tours they offer and we choosed the tour ''Discover the Cretan wines and spirits''. We had an amazing experience in Apokoronas region, we saw the original knitting ''kopaneli'' in Gavalochori and we tasted magnificent Cretan wine varieties!! The lunch was amazing also in Emprisneros village and the people there extremely friendly! The fact is that we had already visited Apokoronas but this was a unique experience!! Our tour guide Yiannis was very knowledgable and friendly! He has huge passion for his job and that made us feel better!! We definitely recommend it and we will join them again on our next trip!!
